Week 37 Hidden Treasures

April 23, 2019 Week 37 I would hope that you all had a wonderful Easter and remembered why we actually celebrate Easter, it is all because of Him! https://www.mormon.org/site/home    This week was full of adventures with Easter Sunday bringing chocolate bunnies to all of the missionaries, zone conference which brought every white Toyota Corolla to the Firle Chapel parking lot, and a new flat (apartment for those who don’t speak Australian) for the Aberfoyle Park Elders (us)!  At Zone Conference we learned that "The Book of Mormon Musical" is coming to Adelaide in a few months time, so we got some training on how to deal with that. It should be an exciting time to be a missionary with lots of people coming up to us and asking for pictures with us, thinking that we are members of the play. It might be a fun thing for you all to know...the actors in the play do use real Books of Mormon as props, but as part of their contract, they are not allowed to read ...

Week 36 Do...Be...Better

April 16, 2019 Time just seems to go faster and faster, and it goes on and on whether we choose to go with it or not. It is just another reason why I need to make the most of every second while I still have this small window of time to dedicate everything I am, all my efforts, desires and decisions to God. We had an exciting week this week which is to be expected, we're in Australia! We had a meal appointment with the Sharpe family this week, Sister Sharpe is from Scotland, and we had a Scottish delicacy called Hagus, which has been illegal in the USA since the 1970's. It is basically all of a sheep's organs and innards ground up with oats and spices and put into a sausage. Tasted really good actually!  Elder Ostler and I are men with missions! We have been delivering homemade peanut butter brownies (tannies for those of you who know what they are) to members in the evenings. We drive around our area with Elder Holland kindly inviting us to repentance while dr...

Week 35 Like a Child

April 9, 2019 Another week goes by in the great Australia Adelaide Mission, and the work continues to go forward!  We have a beautiful area, heaps of Kangaroos and hills and all of the Australian beauty.  Elder Ostler and I are pressing forward doing His work, following His Spirit, and spreading His word to gather His people. It is the hardest, yet most rewarding work to be involved in! Like A Child  3 Nephi 9: "22 Therefore, whoso repenteth and cometh unto me as a little child, him will I receive, for of such is the kingdom of God. Behold, for such I have laid down my life, and have taken it up again; therefore repent, and come unto me ye ends of the earth, and be saved." I have read this verse countless times, but never before have I read it in the way that I did last week. I read it from the viewpoint of the Father. He truly is our Father in Heaven, and He loves us.  It is His Nature to welcome us home with open arms. That is the Nature o...

Week 34 Go and Do

April 2, 2019 Good morning, afternoon,  evening, wherever you may be reading this in the world. I write this from Adelaide, Australia, also known as the city of churches. Us missionaries like to call it the city of empty churches because nobody goes to church! There are heaps of old, beautiful churches in Adelaide. My new area is about a 30 minute drive South from the city center, and we have heaps of hills, which provide a healthy day of biking in the missionary schedule.  The weather here is wonderful at the moment, then again, I think that anywhere would be wonderful when you leave Darwin! Adelaide is just headed into its fall season, and I love it. This week started out a bit crazy, but I was able to meet my companion, Elder Ostler, on Wednesday once he flew in from the MTC. He is a diligent missionary that has the fire that I love. He is from Virginia, USA, and did just about everything back there, but has since left it all at home and picked up a new life a...
