Week 68 Reap What YOU Sow

November 26, 2019 What an awesome week! So many adventures and excitement and revelation and just so much has happened, I feel like Mormon writing in 3 Nephi and he can't write 1 percent of what the Lord taught to the Nephites during His ministry, and I feel as if in all of my emailing, journaling, study journals, electronic notes, emails to the mission president, and so much more, I have probably only been able to capture about 1 percent of what actually happens. That is why I am so blessed to have the Holy Ghost to help me to know all things as they really are, and as they really will be (Jacob 4:13) This week we had a new friend of ours come to church! It has been a real challenge getting people to church in the past couple of months. A little bit of background on this friend of ours. He is originally from Peru but lived in Utah of all places for a period of time. You know how when you watch the documentaries on the ocean and it starts talking about sharks? Normally you ...

Week 67 And it Came to Pass

Image
November 19, 2019 Well the title of my email basically sums up my week. Lots of things came and passed this week, and all we can do is to keep looking for more things to come, enjoy them, and then let them pass. The phrase is used about 1,400 times in the Book of Mormon, and when things are repeated, that must mean that they are important. And it came to pass that one fun thing that happened this week is related to one of those 8 legged hairy things that we refer to as spiders. We found a rather large one (or maybe he found us) in our Athiest friend's garden. Of course being young and large in stature, we caught the beast in a pass-along card box, and put him in the freezer when we got home. The next day we had exchanges with the Hallett Cove Elders, so we got our not so little hairy friend out and positioned him to where he still looked alive and where they would definitely see him...and they didn't for the whole day. So disappointing. Then th...

Week 66 Unknown Land

November 12, 2019 And another week is gone! I keep trying to figure out where the time goes. It seems like the 'first [ week ] shall be the last [ week ], and the last [ week ] shall be the first [ week ] (Luke 13:30). Because time goes so fast that they feel like the same week , luckily I am only on week 66 , and not the last yet. This week we had a fun experience with an Atheist! We knocked on her door, and she opened it and said "Not interested mate keep movin!" or something along those lines, that is what they all say even though they don't really mean it. We said back "We actually just love helping people in their garden!" She said "Really? You can come and do gardening for me, but I don't want to hear one word about God." ...and then we proceeded to talk about God for the next 20 minutes. Fast forward a couple of days and we got a text from her saying "If God was real, you would have shown up today." ...

Week 65 The Devil's Reply

November 5, 2019 G'day friends near and far. I think time works differently down here in Australia. I think I'll just have to serve for 10 years or something to get the full measure of what I signed up for! The weather here is super strange, it is like a mild Utah Spring, where most days are chilly and then a few days are hot and some intense sun. Adelaide is known to have all 4 seasons in a day in Spring.  I will jump right in for this week! A few weeks ago, we met a man named Luke, and he told us that he likes to read. We taught him yesterday, and we learned that he has read 130 pages in the Book of Mormon. After finishing high school, he still couldn't read or write, so he set his mind to learning how to do that, and now he can sit down and read an entire novel in a day. He is a cool guy! Another friend of ours that we are teaching has been going through a difficult time in life, but he is honest with us! He told us that last time we knock...

Week 64 Darkness for Light

October 29, 2019 Week 64 And another week is gone. Kinda crazy how fast it goes! There are so many miracles, and not so miraculous events that happen day to day and week to week here. One of those experiences that we thought could be a miracle happened when Elder Erdenechimeg and I were knocking doors. We looked down the street and we saw the great flag of liberty flying on a flag post with an American Eagle on it. On my mission I have only met one other American while knocking doors, and he was super interested in the gospel, but then he moved to WA. So in my mind, I was excited to have another American who wanted to hear our message. Well we got to the door and surprise, it was just an Aussie who loved America but disagreed with anything and everything we said. We even offered him a  guaranteed increase in happiness! Still no. Some people just aren't ready yet!  On Saturday you all might be happy to hear that we had 2 Baptisms! (It definitely isn't a...
