Week 14 Come and See

I learned this week that the Northern Territory of Australia, and Darwin in specific, has the most recorded lightning strikes in the world. Wet season is continuing to progress, and it did not rain everyday this week but when it did rain...it rained. 

We biked through a field to get to one of our friends houses, and he wasn't home. Anyway, right as we got under his porch, the sky let loose, and turned the field we just biked through into a river in just 15 minutes.

When the lightning strikes here, there aren't really words to describe it. You see the lightning, and then it sounds almost as if somebody is unzipping an electric zipper of sound through the sky, like an electric crackle. Then sounds like a cannon go off in your ear, and the residual thunder goes on for a few minutes and you'll get at least 2-3 of those per minute. The "real" wet season won't start for about another month. Most of you that know me know how much I love outdoors, hence the detailed description of the storms here.

Come and See

Here in the Australia Adelaide mission, our motto is "come and see." This motto comes from the New Testament, the book of John, chapter 1, verses 38-41. Two of Christ's disciples ask Christ where He lives and His answer is "come and see." 

This week we have been striving to use this to invite our friends to church, and as a result of Elder Nayusan's and my efforts, we were able to have four of our friends attend church (which for the record is a miracle here in Australia)

After following through on the Savior's invitation to "come and see," the two apostles share about their experience and tell us that because they "went and saw," they "found the Christ." (John 1:41)

I would extend to all of you to do as the Savior has asked us to do in this story as well as in 3 Nephi 18:25. Come.  And see. We all can come closer to Christ and see how He can improve our lives. I promise that as you "come and see," you truly will "find the Christ" in your own personal life and know of the reality of the power of His Atoning Sacrafice and it's effect on your life and the world. I love the Lord, His effect on my life as well as all of you.

Elder Goodrich and I have seen so many miracles in our area as we have been focused on the work and simply doing all we can to bring the blessings of the restored gospel down upon God's childeren here in Hackham West.  While everybody else in the world was able to watch general conference last   week end, here in Australia we don't get it until this   week end! Week 42 The Lifestyle of Happiness

May 28, 2019 Another week has passed in Aberfoyle Park, and even though it isn't super cold here, it is surprisingly cold enough to wear a jacket every now and then. When I originally opened my call and discovered I was headed to Australia, I thought Australia was the "driest continent"...If the internet or anybody else tells you that lie...don't believe it. It has rained every day and night for the past week, and it is rain that you will never see in Utah. Nothing compared to Darwin here in Adelaide, but enough to make you wonder why Australians make all of their roofs out of tin. Elder Küchler and I have been working with a friend of ours who has been to church twice now. His wife and son are both preparing for Baptism, and he admitted to us on Sunday that he wants to learn for himself, rather than just to understand what it means for his wife. Week 59 The Gift of the Holy Ghost

September 24, 2019 Week   59 G'day my friends and family and anybody else that might happen to be reading this. There have been so many fantastic things happening this   week , but I'll only say a few of them: One big miracle that we saw this   week , which I do not remember if I mentioned last   week , actually yes, I did mention it. Remember the people out in their garden that we basically taught the restoration to last   week , but we didn't find their house or get the contact number? Well apparently he was best friends with a member of the ward in high school, and the member, his friend who is a Jehovah's Witness, their other friend a Muslim, and their other friend an Athiest would always hang out and discuss religion.
