Week 15 Remember Remember
November 18, 2018
I am being transferred...luckily I am not going far. I didn't think so anyway. I will be in Darwin City for the next six weeks, including Christmas. I will be with Elder Liao, from Minnesota, and I spelled that wrong. I have talked
to him a bit, but not a lot, but he is definitely a cool Elder. More on him next week. I am surprised that we are together because I have heard that they never put two American companions together. Darwin City is where Elder Nayusan (my first companion) was
trained. Elder Nayusan is now the District Leader for Palmerston and finishing the training of another Elder. Good for him. There is no Thanksgiving in Australia, but I am happy to miss two for the Lord's Work.
This week has been pretty good. It was the last week of the transfer, and we had President Haleck come for a mission tour conference. He is the President over the Pacific area I think. His message revolved around making your mission
a personal experience to you, and how we need to decide what sort of missionary that we are going to be. Will I be one who is stagnant and not moving much, or will I be a "raging river of righteousness" as he put it. Of course I know which one I want to be,
but am I willing to do what it takes to become that? Of course I am. I will do anything that the Lord requires of me.
Kind of going off of that, I told my Heavenly Father in prayer, that I would be willing to do all to become what He needs me to be, and the next day, we got called, and I was informed that I was being transferred...and because of that,
I had to remember my commitment to my Savior. My commitment to do His will.
On Friday and into Saturday, I went on splits with Elder Beisemeyer, the Palmerston district leader. We went to his area which is huge. The area that they cover is the same size as the whole Darwin zone combined, and all of the houses
are far apart, anywhere from 5-50 acre lots and just completely covered in trees. Elder Beisemeyer is a cool dude and is extremely friendly and sociable. He enjoys the work and talking to people.
Going back to the reason for typing this email is to spur some remembrance into you. Human kind is forgetful by nature, and we must always remember the Savior in all that we do.
"12 And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the
rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your
foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty
storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall." (Helaman 5:12)
When we remember the Savior, it is not a one time thing. It is a continuous exercise, and as we continue to remember Him in all we do, at all times, and all places, with all people, in every circumstance, whether it be good or bad,
if you are busy, or relaxing, or if you simple want to stop. Don't forget to remember. That is where the power of the gospel is manifest. When we become members of the church, our trials do not disappear or even lessen. In fact, the more we learn, the more
that Satan tries to oppose us and "drag us down." But as we remember our rock, Christ, we become stronger, and find greater resilience against sin, temptation, and trials.
No matter where you are, I would invite you all to remember the Savior and all He has done for you, all that He is doing for you, and all that He will continue to do for you, and that as you do so, you will see true miracles in your
life.
