Week 81 The Crowning Event

February 25, 2020 Another full week of exciting mission miracles has transpired here for me! On Saturday, Elder Jenkins and I knocked so many doors and worked so hard that we forgot that we would be getting a call later that day in regards to transfers. There was a branch barbeque at the park in Broken Hill, and we got our neighbor to come. As we were leaving the barbeque, our phone rang and it was our district leader and all of a sudden we remembered that today was the day! Surprisingly I learned that I was being transferred, but I will come back to that in a little bit.  We didn't let that phone call bother us though, and we just kept working. We knocked on the door of a previous contact and he let us in right away! He has been going through a tough patch in life and has been going through lots and lots of research trying to find the truth. Something that I thought was interesting is that he brought up one thing he found from his research...he believes that God liv...

Week 80 The Restoration

February 18, 2020 Well...my time is short. Really exciting stuff though! This was such a fantastic week here in Broken Hill and the Mildura Zone! We had a goal of 30 new friends as a zone which was absolutely a Faith filled goal, and by the blessings of God we achieved that! That is an average of 5 new per companionship, while the mission average is about 1.5 new people per companionship. Elder Jenkins has expressed to me multiple times how awesome and fulfilling it is to actually feel like he is part of the raging river in the AAM. I feel it as well. It is the best feeling to put our shoulders to the wheel and SEE the fruits of our labors. One specific miracle that came from our faith is our friend Pete, we have mentioned him before. He was our "last door Sunday miracle" in week one. If we had been a few minutes later out of the flat, we would have missed him. He has not attended church yet due to his job as a road train driver, but both Elder Jenkins and I f...

Week 79 A Still Voice of Perfect Mildness

February 11, 2020 Dear family and friends, anybody and everybody outside of Broken Hill, NSW, Australia, listen and hearken to my voice, because it is once again time for an update as to the events happening here-in:  We had a very eventful week which began with four days of dust, rain, or a bit of both. We call it mud. I have never had it fall from the sky before, but with the chaos in the world and the uniqueness of Broken Hill, nothing surprises me anymore! The people here in Broken Hill seem to reject the very idea of rain. One man told us that when he saw the rain, he had to run to his neighbor and ask what it was because he hadn't seen rain for years. Another man, while getting soaked from the rain still told us that "it doesn't rain in Broken Hill!" We looked up, looked back at him and, gesturing at the rain said, "what is this then?" He just shook his head and said "that's not rain." So I guess it doesn't rain in Broken Hi...

Week 78 Full of His Glory

February 4, 2020 This week went so fast, that I don't even know what to say. We taught an awesome lesson to a friend of ours, he downloaded the gospel library app and is listening to President Nelson's conference addresses while he drives his road trains around Broken Hill for 12 hours a day, so that is cool! We went from about 45 degrees on Friday, 43 degrees on Saturday, to 18 degrees on Sunday, so that was a sporadic weather change. The max temperature that our car recorded was 48 degrees celsius which is about 118 degrees Fahrenheit. That was really exciting! We drank lots of water that day, and also helped a member load a truck for another member who is moving to Melbourne. Broken Hill is such a unique, fantastic, flat, and exciting place to be. Being a missionary and an instrument in the hands of the Lord is as good as ever, and it seems to just be getting better and better one day at a time.
